ASPLOS 2021

Thank you all for making ASPLOS 2021 such a success!Ā Registration is now closed, and in a couple weeks we will begin the transfer of videos and other conference materials to a more permanent home.Ā In the mean time, rest up and get your best ideas ready to submit to ASPLOS 2022 in Lausanne Switzerland!

ASPLOS is the premier forum for interdisciplinary systems research, intersecting computer architecture, hardware and emerging technologies, programming languages and compilers, operating systems, and networking. While the 26th edition of ASPLOS will be held virtually, attendance is still going to be an amazing way to connect with this innovative and engaged research community.  We want everyone to meet new people, connect with old friends, and learn all kinds of amazing new things from people the world over. Unfortunately scheduling the entire globe into a shared meeting at a time convenient to them is impossibleā€¦ and we also realize many of you can’t just lock your door for 12 hours and say you are “traveling” to everyone in your life.  So this year we are doing at least three things that are new:

  • First, we are spreading the content across more weekdays to make it easier to balance participation with the rest of our responsibilities.  The main conference program (technical papers, keynotes, networking opportunities, and more) will run Monday April 19th to through Friday 23rd.  A wonderful lineup of tutorials and workshops happen the week prior Monday the 12th through Friday the 16th.

  • Second, rather than just “pick a single time” for synchronous interaction and force people into it, or try and split the conference population along some arbitrary 12 hour divide, ASPLOS will split its scheduled synchronous interaction across two sessions per day at 14:00-17:00 GMT (Session M) and 23:00-02:00 GMT (Session E).  We realize that while for a few of you all of the listed times will be great, for others only one of the two times will be at all reasonable to attend at all.  Which is why..

  • Third, we are making the talks available ahead of time so you are free to watch and post questions or comments on our conference live site at whatever time is good for you!  Even if you canā€™t make it to the live Q&A sessions you can still engage in the discussion and hear from the people behind the research. This, coupled with some opportunities for people to meet and discuss across sessions for those that are interested, will help give everyone a chance to hear and be heard on the ASPLOS-related topics they care most about.

Everyone has important personal obligations to balance with their work, and with that in mind we are striving to help you get the very most from any time you choose to dedicate to attend.  We know you will learn a ton, grow your network, and maybe even be inspired — and we hope you will seriously consider registering for ASPLOS today!
